We read about this new restaurant and being about 15 min from our house we decided to try it, arrived around 6 on a Fri evening and brought our 12 yr old granddaughter. We all ordered something different but started with the shrimp appetizer wow what a treat. All I can say is you have to give this place a try, excellent food, your taste buds will explode, I'm going back for lunch and wife and I will be going back for dinner again and again, it's that good, mind you the atmosphere is average but who cares when the food and preparation is spot on, we sat at a table and watched each dish come out, the chef inspected each plate before sending it out, I like that, he cares about what he serves his customers. Try this place before word spreads......

This place is very near our home & it used to be another Mexican restaurant that was, shall we say, not all that. We eat Mexican at least 2 times per week (it's our favorite). We were excited when "Balsas" opened because they're so near our home, but we were reluctant based on past experiences of others. So, on an evening when we were very tired, we decided to eat there & "give it a shot". Upon entering the restaurant, we were not overly impressed with the decor (bright yellows, mis-matched seating awkwardly placed in the tight surroundings, typical Mexican restaurant decor, you get the picture). They told us we could sit any where & we almost left because we were not impressed with the atmosphere. However, the staff was so friendly that we opted to go ahead and eat there. My husband had the steak tacos and I had the pork tacos. My pork tacos had a great taste, but found the meat a little watery. The real treat was the steak! My husband said it was the BEST steak he'd had ANY where... the beans were fantastic! The rice was under-cooked, but we knew they were new & the flavors were so yummy, we didn't really care! They gave us a delicious dessert for our troubles (what troubles?). The drinks are just okay - they're still waiting to get a bartender (but the beer on tap is ice cold). Every time we've been since, I've tried the grilled chicken & it is delicious! We've loved every thing we've tried & the best part is, every thing isn't drenched in cheese sauce or sour cream! This is now our favorite Mexican place, though I'm almost reluctant to call it that... it's our favorite local restaurant! Believe me, you won't be sorry if you try this place! It's off the chain good!
